Would You?: Pull Back Your Bangs

I am so into this trend right now. I have full fringe and sometimes I just don't have the time or energy to work the round brush and make my bangs fall properly... So I've found myself falling deeper and deeper into pulling my bangs back; A chic braid tucked behind one ear, or keeping it simple & using a headband.

Currently Obsessed With: Leather Blouses

The trick to keeping this chic trend from looking a bit too "goth"is to pair it with more delicate pieces; Notice the gold detail in the ring and the feminine jeans. The stud accents on the ankle boots sort of 'kick' this trend into high gear.

Would You?: Braided Updo

This is a trend that can easily go sour if not executed correctly. And furthermore, I've learned, if you try too hard to make it work, it wont. All you need is tiny hair ties, bobby pins, hairspray, patients, and a half hour to play around with the style.

The braided bun updo looks complicated but totally changes the game. I prefer mine to look a little messier like the image of Kristen Stewart only because I do prefer the effortless chic rather than primed and perfect.

Check out the images below for tips on how to execute the braided bun updo.

Would You?: Neon Hair

We're used to seeing neon strands on celebs like Katy Perry and Nicki Minaj, but have you considered the trend for yourself?
Now, typically, anyone not in the limelight can't exactly get away with 24 hour permanent fushia or yellow. If you have a 9-5 like me, the office isn't exactly the best place for bright hair.
So I'd suggest something temporary, perhaps for a night out. Like clip-in neon extensions! They're very inexpensive, and if styled properly, won't make you look cheap.
Try clipping in a few strands of the same hue, teasing a bit to make it look more "natural", then twist into a chic updo! The splash of color will break up the style and allow for a more playful look rather than the usual polished chignon.

Check out the images below for tips on how to master this trend!

Make Your Morning Easier

It's Monday night. Which means a couple things in my house.
1. Monday Night Football for the hubby
2. Cooking the usual Steak and Chicken on the George Foreman for dinner

Today's post is inspired by my forced weekday morning ritual. I've adopted a few morning habits that have helped me streamline my work week and cut down on a.m. stresses.

I've decided to share these tips with all of you because they have saved me more than a few times and I hold them very dear:

Wash Locks Before Bed
I cannot remember the last time I woke up early enough to wash my hair before work. Instead, what I do is shower and blow out my hair at night, follow up with root lifting spray, and dry shampoo. Then in the a.m. for my morning shower I wrap my hair in a high bun, then cover with a shower cap. That way, my strands stay dry and all I have to do is blow it out with a round brush to work the kinks out and voila! I'm ready for the day!

"No Makeup" Makeup
I do this for a number of reasons. Not only is it super easy in the morning, but it looks so natural and really lasts all day.
Here's how I do it:
1. wash & tone face
2. moisturize
3. primer
4. light application of undereye concealer
5. pat & blend with foundation brush
6. spray with a hydrating facial mist
7. pat with foundation brush
8. powder ONLY areas that tend to get oily & shiny throughout the day
9. a couple sweeps of bronzer for color
10. one sweep of blush on apples of cheeks
11. spray again with facial mist
12. pat again with foundation brush
all done!!!

Pull it Back
Don't feel like going all out and styling, straightening, or curling your hair????? Wrap it in a chic messy bun and pair it with a headband to keep the fly aways out of your face all day! :)

Set & Tag Your Outfits
I swear by this one. I don't have a very hard time styling in a time crunch, but the biggest problem is making the decision! So every Sunday, I set out blouses and/or dresses for the next work week so I'm not scrambling in the morning. There's really no sense in laying out accessories or shoes because that just sort of happens as I'm getting dressed. :)

Are American's Too Hostile Over The 2012 Election?

It's only been one full day after the 2012 Election, so of course we'll continue to see postings on social networks in regards to the results. But the issue it seems, is that when it comes to politics and social media, humanity turns incredibly hostile.
Now, don't get me wrong, I posted my share of tweets directed towards my disappointment in the election results. But lets face it. When you're team looses, naturally, you're going to be upset about it.
I'm sure you've noticed the amount of frustration from Republicans over the last 24 hours on social media. And this is because 48% of American's were cheering for the other guy. Literally just under half of our country was split down the middle during this election.
Aside from saddened Republicans, we also have a few Democrats that are "rubbing it in" so to speak. It's playing out like a football game. The fans of the winning team are harassing the losing team in the parking lot after the Super Bowl.
These things happen.
Now, lets change it up, what about when your favorite actress or singer is gloating and making you feel like rubbish for your beliefs? Celebrities are just like us. They're not perfect and they make mistakes. The difference is that when you or I make moves that are in "poor taste" only a small handful of people see and know about it. When celeb's chose to ignore the high road, the whole world sees it. The whole world talks about it and complains about it.
Their whole life is on display. And with social media, their fans on facebook or followers on twitter are their FANS. Fans support them, fans pay their bills, fans made celeb's famous by purchasing their music, buying tickets to their movies, or watching their tv shows. So why would they go so far to look so bad? Things happen, I've done plenty of things without thinking it through. But again, I'm not a celebrity, and nobody is interested in what I say or do.
Which finally, brings me to my point:
Beyonce decided to post an image on her Tumblr account geared towards Mitt Romney supporters:

Actual photo of Beyonce's "message" to Republicans posted on Tumblr

Clever? Yes. And I'm sure in no time, someone will be printing this phrase on zazzle or cafepress if they haven't already.
She posted the image shortly after the election was called last night and has since removed it from her account.
What has been seen cannot be unseen....
The damage is done. She put it out there. She risked offending probably half of her fan base while exercising her Constitutional First Amendment rights. But to what cost? Yes, I'm sure her die-hard fans, who might be Republican's, have already forgiven her. In my case, I could really care less what Beyonce has to say. If this was posted by Milla Jovovich I'd be torn apart. But Milla wouldn't do that. Regardless of her intentions I can only imaging how many people were hurt by this little note she left. But as American's, I'm sure they'll pick themselves up and find a way to move on.

Newest Items Added to My Zazzle Store

Hi all!
Well today was interesting. First, I woke up an hour earlier than I usually do for work. Which, in retrospect, doesn't seem like such a bad idea... Well let me tell you, when I have "free time" I more often than not, lose track of it. And that's what happened this morning. I got all caught up in organizing and cleaning my newly redecorated livingroom, I didn't even look at the clock til it was "too late". My morning carried on almost as usual minus a second coat of mascara and lip balm vs lipstick... But it's the principals of the situation..
Speaking of losing track of time.. I've been a busy bee with my painting and canvas art lately that I haven't been paying as much attention to my zazzle store as I would like.
Here is a sample of the new items I added!!!
If you happen to like what you see, or want to view other items, then click the zazzle link below! It will take you to my store :)
